Volley serie b – finale play off

GARLASCO

There is still a chapter missing, the most important one, to the splendid fable of Volley 2001 Garlasco that on Sunday (5.30 pm) will play at home the decisive game 2 of the men’s B series play off final with the historic promotion to A3 series at stake.

To get there, the boys of coach Marco Maranesi still need a victory, no matter with what score, but it will not be easy against a Canottieri Ongina who, despite being defeated at home last Saturday in race 1, proved to be a very equipped and dangerous team, dragging the lomellini at the tie break.

«We are happy, but tired after a long game of five tight sets and, first of all, still a final for which at this point only strong teams arrive. This is why I did not expect a different match from how it was – says Andrea Coali, central of Volley 2001 Garlasco – it went very well because we won game 1 away. We had prepared a match very similar to the one that was actually played on the pitch. Ongina produced a lot of continuity and, in particular, their strong opposite Miranda found hits especially diagonally on which we will have to adapt and better position the wall, taking advantage of this experience in next Sunday’s race ». In the center, despite a not very brilliant start to the game, the Lomellina team has been able to build many of its fortunes: “The attack in the first half is always very variable from game to game, in the first set we went badly in this fundamental, but then always better and growing – observes Coali – But more than on the technical part, in this match especially at the start, we struggled for the great heat and to shake off the tension of the final ».

The virtue of tenacity

The head is obviously already at the decisive challenge that will close the series next Sunday in Garlasco and Coali thinks like this: «For race 2 we aim at consistency in our game and on the fact that we know how to be aggressive. In all this flurry of the play off series we never gave up an inch, especially when, as against Caronno or in race 1 with Ongina, we were three points down and we always climbed up. As happened also in the tie break last Saturday. We have this characteristic and I would say it is an excellent characteristic ».

After the victorious blitz away for 3-2, on Sunday at the PalaBalduzzi in Garlasco, the boys from Maranesi will go up to Serie A3 with any victory result. In the event of a 3-2 defeat, game 2 will be extended and the 15 points will be decided at the Golden set which will send the winner to the higher category. An unfortunate defeat by 3-1 or 3-0, on the other hand, would cost Garlasco the elimination and would promote Canottieri Ongina to A3. –
