The center forward of Pavia Academy, from Vigevano, is experiencing her best moment “I started at 6, at 11 I moved to basketball, from 5 I dedicate myself to football again”
the protagonist
Twenty-six goals in the league plus three in the Italian Cup. These are the race bomber numbers of Biancamaria Codecà, from Vigevano, 28 years old (he will turn 29 in July), center forward of the Pavia Academy, women’s Serie C team. Speed and physical strength, combined with good technique are the peculiar characteristics of her. Codecà is the strong point of a team fighting for the very first positions. Six rounds from the end of the second round the blue of coach Corrado Martinotti are fourth two points behind Pinerolo, second at 49 (and overwhelmed 5-1 last Sunday at Fortunati).
«I started playing football at 6 in Vigevano and stopped at 11 – says Biancamaria -. Obviously I played in mixed categories, together with the boys. Then I dedicated myself to basketball, point guard in Serie C at Cat Vigevano. After 6 years of basketball, the return to football ». In his Lomellina the restart: “At the age of 24 I resumed with the ball in D, at Mortara, the following year I moved to Serie C in Gropello where I had as coach Martinotti and Albani as sporting director, who now hold the same roles at Academy – explains the blue striker – From C the big leap in A at Mozzanica Bergamo, an experience that did not go very well, so the following season I resumed in C at Riozzese, immediately obtaining promotion to B. Last year I arrived in Pavia, with which I won the Excellence in the Ligurian tournament (the Lombard one had been canceled because, due to the pandemic, almost all the teams had withdrawn); for me this is the second championship in the Pavia Academy ».
Only football
From 2022-23 the women’s Serie A will become professional, even if many players are already in fact. And Codecà? «After graduating as a surveyor, I have always done odd jobs, on call – he specifies -, at the moment I don’t do other jobs besides playing football. During the year between suspensions for Covid and midweek recoveries, with mid-week trips to Terni and other distant locations, in fact the activity was practically professional for us too, or at least close to professionalism. My companions and I, even if they were newly promoted, were aiming to go up to B, it was the goal of the company, of the president Giorgio Benaglia. Too bad we left points on the road otherwise we would be there to fight for the first place. Now we are fighting to try to finish at least second ». –
