Commentator: Mane has never been appreciated like Van Dijk Salah has left because of Klopp’s remarks
Live it, June 25 News Former England international and talkSPORT commentator Trevor Sinclair has spoken about the three reasons he thinks Mane has chosen to leave Liverpool.
“Mane’s move has obviously been accepted by the majority, and he left as a Liverpool legend, but I keep hearing from fans and legends that they don’t understand why Mane left, and I’ll tell you why.”
“First of all, I don’t think he has ever been praised and appreciated at the club like Van Dijk or Salah.”
“Second, Liverpool’s attitude towards his contract extension explains to a certain extent how the club views him.”
“Third, I think it’s mainly because of Klopp, who at the beginning of the year made disparaging remarks during the African Cup of Nations when players were absent from club competitions, which cost Klopp the loss of Mane. Cisse also had to stand up to Klopp saying: ‘You’re second before African players play for you’.”
“Mane is a principled man. You see him building a hospital and a school for his hometown in Senegal. It was these things that made me aware of Mane’s thoughts.”
“He had a great time with this team, Mane is a legend at the club, but I don’t think he has been able to play for it since then.”
According to previous reports, Klopp called the Africa Cup of Nations a “mini-tournament” in an interview, sparking controversy. However, Klopp later made a clarification, saying that the media misinterpreted his remarks and that it was not the intention to belittle the African Cup.
