UDINE. Udinese basketball looks far ahead with “Tutti per Apu”. The new consortium open to the participation of companies and individuals will be a reality in a week at the latest: work has begun on the statute at the notary Maistrello of Udine. And Mr. Old Wild West, the CEO of Cigierre Marco Di Giusto, accustomed by choice to being behind the scenes, came out of the closet, guaranteeing: «By Thursday the consortium will be done, we are working hard for this».

He will lead the organization, which will support Alessasndro Pedone, will have in Flavio Pressacco, a piece of the history of city basketball, authoritative guarantor and will also be open to popular shareholders.

Solid foundations
The objective of this initiative, announced on June 19th, is to give a solid foundation to Udine basketball, attracting new investors from time to time. A consortium model that has been very popular in recent years in Italian top basketball is followed: among the various Serie A realities we mention those of Trento, Cremona and Treviso. Projects that were born, developed and brought excellent results: stability, competitiveness and also good sporting results. Treviso, just to give an example, after having forgotten the glory of the Benettons, it started again from the bottom, then three years ago it fought with Udine in the A2 series and today is preparing to return to the European cups.

Promoters
The first adhesions to “Tutti per Apu”, in addition to those of the president of the APU Alessandro Pedone, were those of Marco di Giusto of Old Wild West and Gabriele Ritossa of the Zaffiro Group. Di Giusto is the founder of Cigierre (General Catering Company), a company that belongs to brands popular with the general public such as Old Wild West, America Graffiti, Temakinho, Shi’s and Pizzikotto, with over 350 stores throughout Europe. Ritossa is the head of the Sarafin Group, founded in 1990: today it has over 50 companies, about 1500 employees and 150 million euros of aggregate turnover ranging from construction with the Zaco company, to supermarkets, the Cittavacchia brewery, bars and restaurants including the pearls Metropolis, Portizza and Ovest.

The pearl of the group is Zaffiro, Ritossa’s core business since 1990, today shared with the listed company Mittel Spa. Ritossa with Zaffiro in the last year, in addition to the acquisition of new retirement homes, has carried out a unique operation in the world. Europe in size with the French fund Primonial, for a total amount of approximately 240 million euros.

Statements
On the sidelines of the negotiations on “Apu for all”, Gabriele Ritossa expressed all his enthusiasm for the initiative: “It is a pleasure to participate in this adventure together with Alessandro and Marco, I hope many others will join, I have always followed the football but a few years ago Alessandro introduced me to basketball, a fun, exciting, exciting and fast sport. Then it seemed right, given the common interests, to participate in Alessandro Pedone’s commitment in this world. It is obvious that it is easy to rejoice or get angry, but all this costs: with the consortium, Marco and I will give Alessandro additional support in addition to the simple sponsorship. This club needs the growing warmth of this Udine which follows the Apu with great passion. The consortium will be an opportunity to make the APU even stronger ».
