BORDANO. On the eve of the first day of the Coppa Carnia, which will kick off by restarting amateur football in the region after almost a year, taking a look at the staff of the Prato Carnico anchor (name proposed by Guido Canciani, one of the founders of the company in memory of his military service spent in the navy), the name of Aulo Bearzi, born in 1949 (72 years old on 2 January) appears in the column reserved for porters.
“The last game as a starter (and captain, ed) of my beloved Àncora – Bearzi specifies – dates back to Carnico 2018 at Bordano where I played for almost the entire first half keeping a clean sheet, so much so that I was awarded during the delivery of the Carnian Top 11 ».
The Anchor has always been part of his life since 1963 when he participated in the first of the six CSI championships (Centro Sportivo Italiano) skipping only two games and on those occasions it was a real drama. Aulo Bearzi has always played in goal, even if some coaches had tried to convince him that his role was that of the breakthrough striker: “It was a role that I played a few times – admits Aulo – as I lacked breath so it was better to stay between the posts where perhaps you suffered more tension, but you struggled less ». Of those unforgettable years, the mention of travel is indelible.
“There were many of us to carry around – Bearzi says – and there was only one car available, first the” Bianchina “by Don Leone Pascuttini then the Wolkswagen” Maggiolino “by Don Ruggero Marin, so the field by destination could be reached at stages and many times the last kilometers were covered on foot, but the passion was so great that fatigue was an unknown problem ».
In 1967 he found employment in the maintenance office of the Consorzio Bonifica Bassa Friulana in Udine and thanks to the collaboration of his cousin Denis Timeus, owner of the Bar al Ponte, he was registered with the Santa Caterina team at the time participating in the second category regional championship. In the Carnico Bearzi, in addition to the anchor, he played in Ravascletto then in 1971 he was “observed” by Franco Quaglia and Mattia Diego (at the time respectively president and player of the Sutrio furniture makers) and the following year until 1979 he defended the door of the ” Maggiolini ”, conquering the title of Carnic champion in 1974 and in the same year, on the occasion of the inauguration of the Verzegnis sports field, he was also goalkeeper of the Tolmezzina Representative in the friendly match with Udinese. «In that match – Bearzi recalls – I felt immense pleasure in receiving the compliments of prof. Gino Lizzero (in that match he was on the Juventus bench as an official companion, ed) for a parade of mine from Peressin’s header and for other interventions of a certain difficulty ».
Leafing through the full-bodied album of memories, Bearzi is moved in reviewing formations and photos of missing players and among the many with particular emphasis he mentions the names of Mario Selenati, Gino di Gallo, Alex Pellizzari and Giancarlo Starulino: “I want to thank – Bearzi closes – all the managers, the professionals, the fans, the women for their willingness expressed in all these years of my football life and the patience and understanding shown by my wife Marisa ».
