Massimo Cordiano

Now it’s official. Massimo Cordiano leaves Cortina after 4 years.

The young defender of Milanese origins greets La Conca and returns to play in Switzerland, in the ranks of Basel in the MySports League.

«This possibility came to me without having pushed too hard to look for it», stresses Cordiano, «in reality the plan at the end of the season was to stay at Hafro again. The choice was very difficult, in Cortina I felt at home. I arrived when I was 21 and I was a kid and I’m leaving almost as an adult », he comments with a smile. “It was not just a hockey choice, I will be closer to home and this will allow me to graduate more easily since I will be able to go to the university in Milan more frequently.”

In 4 seasons with the light blue shirt, Massimo played 169 games between Alps and Serie A, scoring 43 points, the result of 7 goals and 36 assists.

«I have grown a lot both from a hockey and personal point of view, I worked first with Giorgio De Bettin and then with Ivo Machacka, managing to carve out an increasingly important role in the team. I made many new friends, even outside the sports field, which I will continue to cultivate at a distance, I learned English and a little bit of Ampezzano, I had the opportunity to experience and appreciate these splendid mountains, which I saw from the city only in photo”.

In short, an experience that Massimo will never forget as well as the club, team-mates and Ampezzo fans.

«The reaction of the club, which behaved like a real family even before being a sports club, to my decision to leave Cortina was anything but taken for granted. They supported me right away, they asked me to put myself first and do what is best for me without any pressure. I would like to thank all those who have allowed me to live and play in Cortina in these four years: the club, teammates, all the staff and volunteers, my nutritionist Filippo. The fans, who have tried in every way to make us feel their closeness again this year, hoping that from September they will be able to return to the stands. Cortina is not a company with a particularly high budget, but the economic gap is bridged by all these people who support the company and who are available with passion and dedication “, concludes Cordiano,” I will continue to support Cortina from a distance and follow the boys. I feel like saying goodbye to everyone, maybe I could come back in the future, who knows ».
