Correa to Inter: 31 million to Lazio. The blow for Inzaghi

by admin

There is Lotito’s discount: loan and then obligation, signatures awaited for today. The Tucu embraces Inzaghi again. The telephone meeting in Appiano between the Nerazzurri executives and the manager Lucci was decisive

We are at the finish line, Inter got their hands on Joaquin Correa at the end of a day – one afternoon, to be honest – decisive to close the gap with Lazio. Wednesday will be the time of defining the contracts, with signatures on all documents. But the agreement is substantially found: a total operation of 31 million euros, divided into 5 million of onerous loan, 25 of compulsory redemption and a further million bonus to be paid into Lotito’s coffers. All for the joy of Simone Inzaghi, who finds Tucu in the Nerazzurri after the three championships spent together with Lazio.

The deal is done

The substantial green light was staged in Appiano Gentile this afternoon. While Inzaghi was training his team towards the away match in Verona, the CEO Nerazzurro Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio were locked in their office, in a telephone meeting with Alessandro Lucci, Correa’s agent, the man who carried out the mediation between Inter and Lazio, whose relations are at a minimum after the affair Inzaghi. It is here that Inter collected Lotito’s opening: after passing from the 40 million valuation to the 35 of last weekend, the Nerazzurri welcomed Lazio’s availability for a further discount, up to the fateful quota 31. The structure of the operation will be defined in detail on Wednesday, but it should precisely provide for a loan with obligation to redeem. No problem in the agreement between Inter and the player, who for days had already reached an agreement on a four-year basis – or until 2025 – for a salary of 3.5 million euros net per season. The same player, pestered by phone calls from his national team mate Lautaro who can’t wait to hug him in Milan, at this point is only waiting for the green light to reach his new destination: it is not excluded that he can do it tomorrow evening, and then training with his new teammates the day after tomorrow on the eve of the away match in Verona.

First choice

Inter have in fact respected the timing they had set for the arrival of the second striker after Dzeko, to forget Lukaku’s farewell as quickly as possible. Correa has always been at the top of Inzaghi’s and Inter’s thoughts. More than Marcus Thuram, whose collateral injury (and consequent stop of at least two months) was made official yesterday. More than Andrea Belotti himself: Inter and Turin have talked, but the Nerazzurri have never sunk the blow, because they are convinced that they will be able to fulfill Inzaghi’s wish. The Nerazzurri and the grenade also heard each other last night, with Inter informing the grenades of the imminent closure on the Correa front. Lotito will reinvest Inter’s millions to complete Sarri’s attacking department: the first goal is Kostic (Eintracht), the name of Brandt (Dortmund) should not be underestimated. Inzaghi’s attack is now numerically in place. But in these hours, in-depth assessments will be made on the account of Alexis Sanchez, who just returned to Appiano yesterday. This is why it cannot be ruled out that, in extremis, Zhang’s club may decide to sink the blow also on Gianluca Scamacca, should no other opportunities arise from here on for Sassuolo and the same striker. The opportunity that Correa was waiting for, however, materialized. Nine years after that Nerazzurri audition: it was 2012, Tucu stayed in Appiano for two weeks. Then the Estudiantes asked for two million to free him and the deal fell through. Today it took 15 times as many. But Inter and Inzaghi are fine like this: the best is yet to come.
