«In the last meetings between the clubs various hypotheses have emerged», explains Jacopo Bernardi, vice president of Cortina, «but I believe that the format of the next championship will be similar to the one just played. The Italian teams are few to make a league on their own and every year there is talk of some new entry but I don’t see concreteness. The farewell of Olympia Ljubljana and Brunico, two top-level teams, may indeed pave the way for less noble teams, we will have the opportunity to aspire to something more ».
CHAPTER COACH
The first thing that the Ampezzo club will have to define is the technical leadership of the team.
«We are happy with the work of coach Machacka», Bernardi comments, «our goal was to build a long-term project with him and in his contract there is an option for next year. We made it a point to meet and discuss it by the end of the month. We know that it has been a very busy year for him, since he has another job, we want to hear what he thinks and if there is the possibility of continuing together ».
THE NEW ROSTER
There will be hot weeks in the Conca also as regards the renewal of foreign players. The most popular names are those of Giftopoulos, Cazzola and the latest addition Vainonen.
«At the moment they asked us to go home», declares the vice president of the celestial whites, «and to think about what to do. Much will also depend on the resumption of the foreign championships that stopped this season. There are evaluations and choices to be made on our part too, together we found ourselves well. We will let them clarify and then we’ll see. “
A different story, on the other hand, for the two Pietroniro brothers, whom Cortina seems willing to keep at the Olimpico. Of course, the historic group of senators from the Ampezzo locker room, who in the project, will have to help the young people of the nursery to grow, is highly confirmed.
«We will certainly try to keep our representative players», Bernardi confirms, «even if it will not be easy given that Val Pusteria could make offers.
