Scudetto semifinal postponed, fair play by Asiago, Renon and Gherdeina. Bernardi: “We were in trouble and they helped us”
A great gesture of solidarity towards the Cortina by Asiago, Renon and Gherdeina.
With a press release, the Ampezzo company brings out the background of the postponement of the semifinals of the Italian championship scheduled for this week. Given the various infections present in the team, in fact, Hafro asked the Federation and the other clubs involved in the final four to be able to find a shared solution for moving the semifinals.
A SHARED REFERENCE
Common sense prevailed, but above all the great sporting spirit prevailed, with the other three teams that shared the problems of the Ampezzo people, thus finding an alternative solution to assign the tricolor title.
“For the other 3 semi-finalists it was a very big step and we imagine tiring”, reads the squirrels’ note, “which, however, pays even more honor to this sport and to the clubs that have always helped each other with a true sporting spirit for good. of our hockey ».
Words also taken up by the president Silvio Bernardi who in turn underlines the great fair-play.
“I shake hands in a symbolic way to Asiago’s colleague Piercarlo Mantovani, to that of Renon Roberto Rampoldi and to Walter Ploner of Gherdeina for their sportiness and elegance”, affirms the number one of the Biancoceleste club, “Cortina has always shared this spirit of solidarity, but at this moment I feel like saying that we are indebted to these 3 historical societies. They did not hesitate to take risks in order to honor this sport. Thanks also go to LIHG President Marcello Cobelli, Federal President Andrea Gios and FISG manager Tommaso Teofoli, who with their mediation have further strengthened this agreement between the finalist teams ».
The scudetto will therefore be played from 8 to 12 February, no longer with the semifinals and the final at the best of the three races but with an Italian group among the 4 finalists, whoever gets the most points will take home the 88th tricolor title.
CONTAGUE SITUATION
Cortina is therefore struggling with positive cases that have already led to the postponement of the matches in Alps against Bregenzerwald and Jesenice. On January 3, during a routine check with quick swabs, 5 positivity emerged among the players and 2 in the staff.
The company immediately ordered the blocking of activities pending the molecular swabs which confirmed the positive results found. A few days later the whole team group was again subjected to a screening from which new positives emerged, even of athletes from the under 19s. At this point, the activity of the youth team was also suspended.
THE 20TH IS PLAYED BACK
Hafro should now return to the Olimpico ice on January 20 for the match against Kitzbuhel before closing the Alps regular season on 22 at Linz, two key games to reach the top six.
“We will have to be good at making a targeted training program to face the last two games of the regular season”, explains the coach Ivo Machacka, “we will certainly not be complete, but with a little luck I am counting on recovering 80% of the roster for those dates ».
