PAVIA. Excellence does not restart. The regional committee of the NLD has, in fact, postponed the recovery matches scheduled for Sunday 23, leaving the clubs the possibility of playing in the event of an agreement between the two contending clubs. But this will not happen for the provincial teams: the stop in Pavia-Lazzate, Vogherese-Sestese and Accademia-Varesina is already official.

“It is a decision that we have taken in light of the numerous requests for postponement by the companies that have positive athletes at Covid – explains Tommaso Bottoni, lawyer, former footballer, councilor from Pavia of the Crl – It will start again regularly on Sunday 30 January. The new protocol of the medical-sports federation also extended to amateur football allows, in fact, to shorten the wait for amateur sportsmen to return to competitive activity from 30 to 7 days.

The new altolà, however, triggers the protests of Voghe. President Oreste Cavaliere does not hide all his disappointment at the choice of the Lombard committee, led by Carlo Tavecchio: “Honestly, I am tired of these continuous program changes – the patron exclaims – It seems to me that the Federation is on the side of those who do not want to play . Now the problem seems to be related to the timing for sports fitness visits to footballers recovered from Covid. Every time a different reason is invented to postpone the matches, then it will mean that we will not show up on January 30th on the Varesina field because the boys deserve to take a trip to the sea ».

The number one in via Facchinetti expresses strong doubts about the regularity of the championship: «The fact that the calendar has been distorted compared to the original one is already a first anomaly. We, for example, have two important players disqualified (Riceputi and Castellano) and I don’t think it right that they should skip a cartel match like the one with Varesina when their disqualification dates back to December. It is not correct that we are going to face the main favorite for the final win without two players suspended over a month ago. The derby with Pavia, which should have been played on 9 January, will also be postponed at an advanced stage of the season, at a decisive moment. With these changes with respect to the pre-established order of matches, it is clear that the regularity of the championship is seriously questioned ».

Cavaliere then makes a criticism on the management of the restart of the Excellence tournament: “We have always talked, in reference to Excellence, of a championship of national interest, like the D series which is going on at least with recoveries while we are completely stop. It seems to me that the leaders of Lombard amateur football are going backwards, rather than moving forward ».

The Academy, for its part, is one of the clubs that has asked for the postponement of the recovery match with Varesina. “We did it due to three new cases of Covid positivity found in the team last Saturday – explains the red and white coach, Marco Molluso -. Now, however, this total suspension has arrived, but we believe that it can be resumed regularly from January 30 with the entry into force in the last few hours of the new protocol that streamlines the process of returning the healed players to the field. In this way – concludes Molluso – the season should resume and be completed regularly, even in the context of an emergency that we hope will gradually return to normal ».

All postponed by a week, therefore, with the hope that the “stop and go” script should not be repeated for the umpteenth time, increasing uncertainty and fears. –
