The Covid alarm goes off in Serie A. On the eve of Genoa-Rome, José Mourinho has to deal with two footballers who tested positive for coronavirus in the round of rapid swabs carried out as per protocol. These are Bryan Cristante and Gonzalo Villar. This was announced by Rome itself, specifying that the two players, both vaccinated, tested positive “following periodic checks”. The players are doing well and are in home isolation, the club said.

Cases of contagion also in Naples. Matteo Politano is positive at Covid and will have to skip tomorrow’s match at San Siro with Inter. Even in this case, the company communicated it, explaining that «he tested positive for a molecular swab carried out yesterday. The player, regularly vaccinated with a double dose, is asymptomatic and in home isolation ». All the procedures envisaged by the health authorities have been put in place – adds Napoli. The team group will carry out a further round of pads during the day before leaving for Milan.
The Napoli coach, Luciano Spalletti, in the press conference preceding the trip to San Siro spreads his arms: «The absence of Politano due to the positivity at Covid? It is part of the difficulties of the season ». Addressing reporters at the press conference, he observes: «You forgot that in the first two days we played with 2 midfielders, Demme out, Zielinski out after 20 minutes, Anguissa was not there and we played with whoever was there. And what has been done has been done anyway ».
