Rome, June 16, 2022 – I am 36,573 new cases of contagion in the last 24 hours in Italiaaccording to bulletin today released by Ministry of Health. 64 deaths were recorded, and in the last day the situation worsened even in hospitals: patients in the medical area are 85 more in the balance between entries and exits, while in intensive care there are 3 more. The positivity rate, after yesterday’s decline, flies to 18.8%.

Il monitoring independent of Gimbe Foundation detects one clear turnaround of the contagion curve in the last week. In 7 days i contagion they increased by 32.1%, and i also rose by 6.1% deaths. On the hospital front, for now, the data are more encouraging: i hospitalizations ordinary (-3.3%) and also the terapie intensive (-16.4%). The increase in infections affects almost all Italian regions and is “probably driven by the sub-variant Omicron BA.5“. In 99 provinces there is a percentage increase in new cases, with Cagliari registering an incidence of over 500 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.

Total cases since the start of the pandemic come to 17,773,764. The discharged / healed in the last 24 hours are 40,108 (yesterday 32,758) for a total that rises to 17,005,366. The currently positive are 3,104 less (yesterday +3) for a total that drops to 600,781. Of these, 596,286 are in home isolation.
