Turin, November 27, 2021 – Lorenzo Sonego opens with a win over Nicolas Mejia the challenge between Italy e Colombia in the Davis Cup. The Azzurri go 1-0 thanks to the Turin player, who prevailed in three sets in front of the home crowd at the Pala Alpitour in Turin. After a shy timid start in the first set, lost at the tie-break, Sonego grew up with a solid second set and a dominant third.

Terzo set – Sonego also opens the third set with a break very important, gained thanks to a point played in a masterly way by the blue at 0-40. The home tennis player pushes with great conviction at this moment and takes the second game holding back to zero Mejia, which is in a moment of great difficulty. The Colombian feels tired after more than two hours of play and suffers another break that brings him down at 4-1. Sonego closes the practice at 6-2.
