VITTORIO VENETO

We left him with the gold medal around his neck on the podium of the team classification of the European Under 20 mountain running championships in Gap in France in the “distant” 2014. We find him now on the podium of the Aics Corsa della Bora in Trieste. Domenica Martino De Nardi, Vittoria specialist of mountain running, in fact conquered the second place in the 18 km course of the renowned trail running race, staged on Sunday in the capital of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The new city of the 25-year-old, who passed from Vittorio Veneto first to Trento (for the three-year degree in computer engineering), then to Padua for the master’s degree in the mathematics department and finally arrived in the Julian city as a computer analyst in a large company. And also as a renewed athlete. Enough to collect glory in the seventh edition of the Corsa della Bora, which, staged over the weekend just past, collected over 2200 registrations from athletes from all over the world, from Germany to Eastern Europe to New Zealand.

A competition that included eight races over different distances (from the 164 km Hypertail to the S1 Half, the one that saw De Nardi on the podium) and even more varied natural scenarios of Venezia Giulia and Slovenia. “Never a more appropriate name for a race, it was actually quite cold, the bora was there but not so strong – comments the rider of Atletica Dolomiti Belluno – an event with a lot of participation, in my case, the 18 km started from Obelisk, in Opicina, to get to Porto Piccolo in Sistiana, between the Napoleonic road and the paths and the beauty of a suggestive panorama over the Gulf of Trieste. I am very happy with second place, only Mirko Cocco, a trail specialist, arrived in front of me, even over longer distances. In reality, I practically always train on the road, so there are several differences, but I had a lot of fun ».

De Nardi, after his youth successes and the blue jerseys (also at the under 18 world championships, always running in the mountains, in 2013), dedicated himself to studying, with an excellent school career which ended in 2020. set aside a little, choosing to give priority to the academic path. “Since last February I arrived in Trieste and started training every day – adds the vittoriese – then I also noticed I was also going strong, so in October I participated in the Corsa dei Castelli where I finished sixth and then, on Sunday, at the Race of the Bora ». –
