Intense weekend for the athletes of the Giuseppe Delfino Ivrea fencing club engaged on the platforms of the sports palace in Cavour, in the Pinerolo area, in two regional competitions. On Sunday 24th and Monday 25th the titles of the third under 14 test and of the regional phase of the Italian Absolute Men’s and Women’s Sword Cup will be assigned, the latter competition also being selected for the national test scheduled from 6 to 8 May in Ancona. 33 Ivrea swordsmen were present.

The Delfino youth sector takes the lion’s share once again: 4 podiums (two silvers with Sara Gillone and Tommaso Cuttica) and two bronzes (Aliki Tonso and Mattia Tappero) as well as two placings in the “top 8” of the quarter-finals (5th Alisia Dominici, 8th Pietro Oberto). In the Girls category (class 2011) the standard bearer of the Dolphin Ivrea Sara Gillone (11 years old, a pupil enrolled in the fifth year at the Primary Fillak of Banchette) is second. The victory goes to Diletta Freguglia from Novara for 10-7. In the second round, Gillone overtakes her partner Marta Bistrattin (15th), while the other Ivorian Alisia Dominici, finishes fifth after losing 10-9 against Agata Rollino from Turin.

Among the Giovanissimi (2010) silver and bronze for the colors of Ivrea thanks to the two left-handed swordsmen Tommaso Cuttica and Mattia Tappero, facing each other in the semifinal with the first winning 10-5. In the final, Cuttica (12 years old in July and first year student of Enrico Fermi di Burolo middle school) gives Edoardo Semilia 4-10 from Novara. Also for Cuttica all the matches won up to the final match. With Tappero’s third place, Andrea Brianese (11th), Fabio Dini (12th), out in the second round, and Daniele Doppioni (20th) also did well.
