The figure of the serial killer is very popular, in cinema as well as on television, and certainly one of the most famous declinations is the one embodied by the actor Michael C. Hall in the TV series ‘Dexter’, which aired for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013 and now ready for a sequel titled ‘Dexter: New Blood’. The appointment is set for the evening of Wednesday 10 November, on Sky Atlantic, when the first episode of the new course will be broadcast.

‘Dexter: New Blood’, all about the TV series

The plot begins ten years after the conclusion of ‘Dexter’: everyone believes that Dexter Morgan is dead, instead he has adopted another name and now lives in the small town of Iron Lake, in the state of New York. He has a job, a quiet life, a relationship with the local police chief and he managed to suppress his murderous instincts, those who had made him become the serial killer of serial killers, a sort of executioner with a complicated morality. However, a series of unexpected events pushes him to fear that the urge to kill may return irresistible and puts him on a collision course with a very dangerous character. The return of his teenage son Harrison further complicates matters.

As with the original show, the one that aired in 2006-2013, ‘Dexter: New Blood’ is also inspired by the novels of Jeff Lindsay. To develop it and to act as showrunner is once again Clyde Phillips, former author of the old ‘Dexter’. In the cast he obviously returns Michael C. Hall and they come back as well Jennifer Carpenter e John Lithgow: presumably during some flashback or as visions, because both characters are dead. In the rest of the cast they stand out Julia Jones (vista in ‘The Mandalorian’), Jack Alcott (‘The Good Lord Bird’), Alano Miller (‘Sylvie’s Love’), Johnny Sequoyah (‘Believe’) e Clancy Brown (‘The Crown’)

Reviews and where to watch the TV series

‘Dexter: New Blood’ has been airing in the United States since November 7 and we already know the response of the stars and stripes critics, which is generally positive. The reasons are mainly two: the effectiveness of Michael C. Hall in playing the protagonist and the fact that the TV series gives back some of the polish that was lost with the approach of the ending of ‘Dexter’.
Season 1 of ‘New Blood’ consists of 10 episodes which last about fifty minutes each: Sky Atlantic has scheduled the airing of the first for 9.15 pm on 10 November. The next ones will arrive on a weekly basis. It goes without saying that viewing is not recommended for children.
