The new version was created by Kourtney Kang, who was a screenwriter and executive producer of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and who wanted to include multicultural suggestions in the show that come from her personal life: she was born in Hawaii, to an Irish mother and a Korean father, and grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia.
