Dodgers trade Dominican Manuel Margot to Minnesota Twins

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a significant trade on Monday, sending Dominican outfielder Manuel Margot to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for prospect infielder Noah Miller. According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, this trade also allows the Dodgers to save approximately $12 million.

Margot was originally acquired by the Dodgers from the Tampa Bay Rays in the Tyler Glasnow trade, where they had to give up right-hander Ryan Pepiot and outfielder Jonny Deluca. During his time with the Rays, Margot put up solid offensive numbers, hitting .264 with 26 extra-base hits and 38 RBIs in 2023 alone. Over the course of four seasons with the Rays, he hit .264 with 19 home runs, 153 RBIs, and 41 stolen bases.

The Twins, who are looking to contend in the American League Central Division this season, are strengthening their outfield with Margot. He is expected to earn $8 million this season with the Twins, with a mutual option for $12 million for the 2025 season. Margot is set to become a free agent in 2026 if the option is exercised.

This trade provides the Dodgers with an opportunity to add a promising young prospect to their roster while also providing financial flexibility. Fans will be keeping a close eye on both Margot and Miller as they begin this new chapter with their respective teams.
