The Sant’Angelo coach from Voghera makes his debut on Sunday after the rest session “Several clubs aim for promotion to Serie D. We need strength and luck”

The second day of group B of Excellence certainly offers two big matches: Pavia-Sant’Angelo and Città di Sangiuliano-Club Milano. Two challenges between four of the contenders for promotion to Serie D. At Fortunati (3.30 pm) Sant’Angelo will arrive led on the bench by Manuele Domenicali, a technician “transplanted” to Voghera for years and who in his career has led several teams between which also Pavia and has a past as a footballer at the Vogherese in C2.
In Pavia for him a brief experience in C1 at the beginning of the 2011-12 season in the period of company leadership of the Zanchi family: nine games then the exemption with the call of Rosario Pergolizzi, followed by Claudio Sangiorgio and the advent of Giorgio Roselli who led to a historic salvation in the play outs in Ferrara with Spal.
Since Sunday you were stopped for the rest, you immediately debut a big match with Pavia. Challenge between two of the contenders to the D series?
«There are many words and predictions. For sure I saw that the first day showed great balance. The demonstration that beyond the blazons there will be no easy matches for anyone in these 10 rounds ».
A more difficult championship obviously where you can’t go wrong to win it?
«It is an anomalous situation to play an entire season in 10 races. It had never happened, but the pandemic has disrupted our everyday life and also our sports life. A choice to somehow restart with a format that I do not agree with. Only ten games, without relegations and without the playoffs that would have given other chances to move up in the category. It feels more like a bar tournament than a championship.
In two months everything is played out and injuries can be decisive.

I imagine that as an interested spectator you have seen Varzi-Pavia online?
«I saw it and saw it again to obviously see Pavia as well as Varzi. On that field it is always difficult to play and Pavia also had problems. Varzi is used to doing it and made a good impression on me. It will be a tough nut to crack for everyone ».
Was the fact of resting in the first league game an advantage or a disadvantage for Sant’Angelo given that you have undergone a direct confrontation like the one with Pavia?
“Both. The advantage of having an extra week to train, given the short time we had after the restart, and not finishing last week at the match that could await us. The disadvantage, without friendlies not allowed for the Covid 19 emergency protocol, is that of arriving at Sunday’s game without a real test, as Pavia was able to do while playing Varzi ».
What do you say about Pavia?
«A good team with important goals like ours and those of other clubs. Personally I coached Romani who was with us last summer and Procida when I was coach of Ternana. Many other players, many who come from Piedmont as their coach, I have never faced them ». –
