Reggio Emilia, 13 February 2022 – Un earthquake of magnitude ML 3.6 was warned in the area of Carpinetiin the province of Reggio Emilia. The Ingv detected the earthquake at 20:47 Italian time. The earthquake was also felt in the province of Modena.
The earthquake – we read on the website of the Ingv, the National Institute of Geology and Volcanology – had a hypocenter in 26 kilometers deep. The shock, as can also be seen from the various comments left on social networks from Facebook to Twitter, was felt in the area of Reggio Emilia It is in the Modenese.
For the moment there is no significant damage to property and people. However, the fear remains 10 years after the earthquake that shook Emilia in 2012, in particular after the earthquake of the fourth degree happened a few days ago.
A series of shocks
In addition to the last shock of magnitude 3,6, with epicenter in the area of Carpinetiat a depth of 26 kilometers, the Ingv had previously reported another one of magnitude 2.5 to Correggio, also in the province of Reggio Emilia, at a depth of 6 km. At around 10 pm the earth shook again, with a quake of magnitude 2.2 still in Carpineti at 10 pm and one of 2.0 after 11 pm. No damage or injuries were reported.
On Saturday in the same area they were registered three more shocks, with a magnitude between 2.3 and 2.4. Two earthquakes of magnitude 4 and 4.3 were recorded last Wednesday in the Reggiano area, causing some apprehension but without causing damage.
