Eriksen speaks again: “I was dead for five minutes, but now I feel fine. I would like to play the World Cup in Qatar “

Danish footballer Christian Eriksen expressed his gratitude for the support he received during his recovery from cardiac arrest, where he admitted he was “dead for five minutes”. Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s match against Finland at Euro 2020 in June and was subsequently equipped with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). The 29-year-old is not allowed to play in Italian football due to the regulations relating to his Icd device, which led Eriksen and Inter to mutually agree to terminate his contract.

The player returned to speak in an interview with Danish broadcaster DR, expressing his gratitude to those who wrote to him or addressed him with best wishes. “It was weird, because I didn’t expect people to send flowers because I was dead for five minutes,” he said. “It was quite extraordinary but very nice of everyone.” Meanwhile, Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots said playing in England would feel like a homecoming for his client. “Playing in England again would be absolutely like coming home for Chris and his family,” Schoots told the BBC. “Christian was treated exceptionally well by the British public, not only for his great football skills, but also for his human values, his modesty and his selflessness.”

Then Eriksen talks about his future as a footballer: «My goal is to play the World Cup in Qatar. I want to play. This has always been my mentality. It is a goal, a dream. If I am chosen it is something else, but it is my dream to return. I’m sure I can go back because I don’t feel any different. Physically, I am in perfect shape. This was my goal and it’s still a long way off, so until then I’ll play football and show that I’m back to the same level ».
