The fifteen-year-old, cousin of Maverick Vinales who races in Moto Gp, was hit by the riders who were chasing him. Race suspended
Another bereavement hit the world of motorcycling and it was once again a very young rider who left. Dean Berta ViƱales lost his life during the Supersport 300 race held in Jerez. Dean was only 15 years old and was the cousin of Maverick, a MotoGP rider with Aprilia. The young Spaniard raced in the family team, the ViƱales Racing Team managed by his uncle Angel.
The dynamics of the accident are sadly known: in the final stages of the race there was a crash that involved several drivers at the first corner and Dean was run over. The pilot suffered serious head and chest injuries and the attempts to save him by the circuit medical staff who immediately rushed to the scene of the accident were worthless.
As a sign of respect, all the other races scheduled for today have been canceled. The loss of ViƱales follows those of Jason Dupasquier and Hugo Millan. The Swiss rider had died at Mugello in June in the qualifying round of the Moto3 class of the Italian Grand Prix, the Spaniard at Aragon, during a race of the European Talent Cup, a preparatory class for entry to the world championship. Everyone was hit by the pilots who followed them.
