Fano falls at home, Da Rold has a pass for the Italian Cup

Da Rold Logistics Belluno qualifies for the men’s A3 series Del Monte Coppa Italia. The news arrived last night at the end of the very long recovery between Vigilar Fano and Med Store Macerata. Virtus Fano needed to win in three or at most four sets to overcome Da Rold in the standings, oust her from eighth place and thus qualify for the second round of the Italian Cup. It didn’t happen because, after having been ahead twice (first 1-0, then 2-1), the Fano players got back together and finally got over them in the fifth set.

When Macerata brought the challenge to the tie-break, Belluno tore the ticket to participate in the Cup. The first day of Del Monte will be played in the midweek round of Wednesday 19 January at 20.30 (a shift that was initially scheduled for yesterday, but the presence of some recoveries still to be played had forced the Serie A volleyball league to postpone the second round of two and a half weeks). The Bellunesi will face the first classified in the White group away from home, or one between Abba Pineto and Videx Grottazzolina.

Precisely these two have yet to meet in the last of the recoveries of the first round (a real big match between the first and the third in the standings, with Pineto ahead by three points). And the progress of the people from Belluno in the Coppa Italia will depend on the outcome of this match, the date of which has yet to be fixed.

Against Abba, in the meantime, Da Rold Belluno will have to play the first day of the second round, scheduled for Sunday, at 18, in Abruzzo. But a big question mark hangs on the challenge since in the Belluno team group there are five players currently positive (response also confirmed by recent molecular swabs). At best, the five athletes currently in the pits will return to the group after the Epiphany. Pineto also had to deal with Covid, close to the turn of Santo Stefano, but the worst now seems to be behind us.

In the championship U16 female, meanwhile, Pontevolley conquered Agordo in three sets (partial: 21-25, 17-25, 16-25). In the championship U18 women, on the other hand, Alpago was beaten 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, 25-9) on the field of the Fregona Sarmede Chapel.
