PAVIA. Lat Genny Pavese it has lost an important piece of its history. Anna Monlarini, 91, died on Tuesday evening within the walls of her home. Monlarini had entered the Pavese Gymnastics section in the artistic section immediately after the end of the Second World War and had immediately shown her remarkable talent in the regional competitions that have almost always seen her get on the podium.

In 1950 Anna Monlarini was called to be part of the national team that participated in the world championships in Basel, where she won a beautiful bronze medal with the blue team and finished in thirtieth place in the individual competition.

Between 1949 and 1952 the talented gymnast from Pavia wore the blue jersey five times, so much so that in 1952 she was also called up to be part of the women’s artistic gymnastics team that took part in the Helsinki Olympic Games, finishing in sixth place. The gymnast from Pavia competed three times with the national team in the matches between Italy and France that have taken place over the years, as well as taking to the platform in world championships and Olympics.

His CV also speaks of five victories in international team competitions: in Annecy 1949, Cannes 1950, Romans sur Isere 1951, where he also finished first in the individual competition, Cannes 1953 and Liegi 1956. Monlarini, in fact, in the first half in the fifties he was part of the very strong team of the Pavese Gymnastics which was coached by Professor Carlo Lanza who excelled in Italy and abroad.
