From Marca to the Maldives. Giacomo Favero, born in 1991 midfielder, became a viral character after the interview with Radio Deejay in which he talked about his football experiences in the island state. At the end of January he will return to Malé to (probably) sign a new contract with the Eagles of the Maafannu district and try to snatch the Dhivehi Premier League title from Maziya. Before taking the plane, however, there is an opportunity to remember the two parentheses with us, first at Giorgione and then at Eclisse CareniPievigina. After three seasons in Malta, Favero played in Castelfranco in 2014-15 in D: “In every vintage I have always tried to bring something inside me and this also helps by going abroad – he remembers – in 2014 there was the will to take me to Brescia but it did not end, we turned to Bassano where I was in practice, there was Mr. Paganin who then moved on to Giorgione and I followed him ».

Favero then returned to the Marca, in Pieve di Soligo, in 2020 in a season in Excellence interrupted by Covid: “Unfortunately I was little left – he comments – I had an excellent experience and I just have to thank the company: still today there we hear on the phone more than willingly, with the coach and with the teammates who have remained. It was a good group, it’s a beautiful reality and I wish the best ».

After a pit stop in his native Udine, Favero is about to return to the Maldives after the experience he started in April 2021: «I’ll see if I can re-sign with the Eagles, I’m looking around. It feels good there, it’s not like everyone imagines between resorts and atolls, I live in the capital where everything is concentrated. It is different from what you expect, everything is very close, for the beaches you have to go to the adjacent islands. I live as a professional and on my free day I explore the environment: an earthly paradise ».

In the Maldives Favero encountered a new culture: «The differences are abysmal. Pork and alcohol are prohibited, rice, vegetables, fruit and fish stand out for their diet. Religion comes first and in some ways it is fascinating, you can hear the prayers from the speakers, they have a devotion that we cannot conceive: during Ramadan they train in humid heat without drinking before 7pm. Technically they are valid because the workouts are they do with the ball, the touches are constant and the dry jobs are few, they are puny, quick and fast. In terms of strength and tactics we are far ahead and they are fascinated by European football ». –
