IVREA
Fencing opens its doors to the general public, to the city. On Friday 17 September, starting at 6 pm, the Giuseppe Delfino fencing club of Ivrea organizes the Open day, a unique opportunity to get closer to this sport and learn the secrets of this fascinating sport.
The initiative is aimed at everyone, aged five and over, children, teenagers and adults of both sexes. The welcoming gym of the Circolo Delfino, located in Piazza Mascagni 15. is ready to accommodate anyone who wants to discover the particularities of fencing, an Olympic discipline among the most medalists in Italian sport in the history of the Games.
The technical staff, directed by Maestro Francesco Campagna, will be available to all those who wish to try to hold a sword, a foil or a saber or simply want to tread a fencing platform. Of course, all this promotional activity is carried out in absolute safety and respecting the Covid-19 protocol.
Meanwhile, grassroots sport is restarting, indeed fencing never stopped during the pandemic. In the past season, 2020-2021, the Circolo Delfino exceeded one hundred units among the members. And since April, when the competitive activity has resumed little by little, there has been no shortage of satisfactions from a competitive point of view and especially in the youth sector. In May and June two under 14 regional tests were held in Turin and the standard bearers of the Circolo Delfino achieved three successes and numerous prestigious placings. In October in Riccione there will be the Italian category championship.
«On the occasion of the Open day I invite everyone to come and visit us at the gym – says the president and Olympian Andrea Bermond -. We have premises of 800 square meters available. I am sure that fencing is a sport that will surprise you ». –
