Fencing, Chicca Isola’s dream comes true: the Vercelli woman called for the Olympics

Chicca Isola’s dream has come true. The fencing champion will be part of the blue quartet that will take part in the Tokyo Olympics from 23 July. The star of the Air Force, who grew up in Pro Vercelli Scherma, was summoned by technical commissioner Sandro Cuomo together with Rossella Fiamingo (silver in Rio 2016), Mara Navarria and Alberta Santuccio. The composition of the Italian team was announced by the federation this evening, Monday 7. Federica is almost 21 years old: the last participation of a Vercelli spadista in the Olympics dates back to 2000, that of the current vice president of Federscherma, Maurizio Randazzo, who in Sidney won the second Olympic medal of his career, after the one four years earlier in Atlanta. After the resignation of Giovanni Pellielo (the skeet shooting champion did not participate in the European Championships, the last chance to get the pass for Tokyo) Chicca will also be the only Vercellese at the five-circle Games. From today the whole city – and not only – is cheering for her, even more than before.
