Luca Maciga / BELLUNO

Dolomites fencing in the name of continuity. The Belluno company can continue its business safely. Fencing is not considered a contact sport and therefore athletes can continue training. In any case, the president Giovanni Sovilla is satisfied.

«We are carrying out all the activities in the gym, at the moment without interruptions. We currently carry out sports activities in the Aism gym in Ponte nelle Alpi. We collaborate with them, helping them in some areas, such as management costs ».

The president is cautious about the possibility of future races.

«You can train as an agonist, however some races over the months have been canceled. Probably after Easter there will be the first races and I really hope that some of them can really be played ».

In this period, compared to other realities, it was essential to be able to train.

“Right now, being able to play sports certainly helps the kids. I thought that many would give up, but I see that even if there are no competitions, a central nucleus of twenty or thirty people continues to be present at training. This is a good sign, because it means that everyone wants to continue with passion ».

This is a transversal component starting from young athletes to get to the more experienced.

«It is a homogeneous group that shows a lot of commitment. Currently I have not lost athletes. What is certain is that, given the new gym and the fixed platforms, this could be an opportunity to increase the number of members. Surely, if the pandemic situation turns in the best way as we hope, we will be able to make different arguments about it. It should be emphasized that the group that continues to train is very respectful of the rules also because, otherwise we would have already closed everything. A great job was done in increasing the groups and reducing the number of admissions at the same time and everyone was good at sticking to the rules. Net of the particular moment we can be moderately happy ». –
