The SSC Napoli announces that the player Victor Osimhen tested positive, asymptomatic, at Covid-19 during the execution of the swab before the trip to Italy, where a check-up by Prof. Tartaro was scheduled for tomorrow. A story that repeats itself: a year ago, on January 2, 2021, returning from Belgium, the Nigerian footballer had already tested positive at Covid.

He had settled in Antwerp since mid-December 2020, when he was undergoing treatment for the shoulder dislocation suffered in November with the national team and had to undergo tests to check how far he was recovering. Osimhen’s first positivity was at the center of a controversy for his birthday party: the striker in Belgium, in fact, on December 29th he turned 22 and attended a party in his honor reported on Instagram by singer Michael Golden , who performed while everyone danced around the footballer without a mask and without spacing. Osimhen himself did not have a mask.

This time, however, the similar story but no parties and controversies. The positivity, however, is intertwined with the injury, the Serie A and the African Cup. Before the positive swab, Osimhen requested an agreement between him and the Nigerian federation in order to postpone the meeting with the national team in view of the African Cup starting on 6 January to stay temporarily in Italy, in order to take the field against Juventus in the big match at Allianz Stadium. Only once the match was over, Osimhen would join his national team on the hunt for the Africa Cup. Tomorrow’s checkup for the injury, the match against Juve and the trip to Africa are all steps to be rescheduled, given the positivity.
