Maintaining the top spot in the Sport Mx1 category of the Italian Motoasi quad bike championship was Christian Versaci’s goal. In the fifth round of Malandrone, a hamlet of Castellina Marittima (Pisa) last Sunday, July 18, he managed to get first place in both heats. The Sangiorgese rider from Cortereggio, 16, who attends the Martinetti high school in Caluso, bearer of the Moto club Asd Hp4offroad observes everyone from the rearview mirror, thanks to the 304 points collected in the stages of Bellinzago (Novara), Bovisio Parini (Lecco), Carpi ( Modena) and Paroldo (Cuneo): «After Malandrone’s double first place in the two heats, now my advantage over second in the standings is 109 points. A margin that reassures me, even if I will still have to fight with great determination in the next race in September in Esanatoglia, in the province of Macerata in the Marche region, where I want to be crowned Italian champion – says Versaci -. Coming to the race in Tuscany, I was lucky that the weather was good and consequently the track was dry. In the first heat I had technical problems with the quad, which made driving more difficult, but despite this I still managed not to lose control of the vehicle and to defend the first position from the first corners. Fortunately, between one heat and another I was able to fix the quad and also in the second round I finished first. During the day I also took part in a third heat, that of the super champions, all those who had finished first in their respective categories in the race and in this special race I finished sixth ». –
