Formula 1: the preseason in Bahrain was complicated

Formula 1 Preseason in Bahrain Sees Intense Action on Day 2

The first day of the Formula 1 preseason in Bahrain went smoothly, with no interruptions despite a technical issue with Alex Albon’s Williams being quickly resolved. However, the second day saw a different story as the morning session was finally suspended due to a red flag.

The interruption was caused by a peculiar incident as an assistant began trampling the curb at turn 11, leading to the deployment of the safety car and eventually halting the session. As pieces flew onto the track, the FIA announced that the session would not be relaunched, adding an extra hour to the afternoon session to compensate for the lost time.

Before the red flag, Charles Leclerc set the pace with Ferrari, followed by Oscar Piastri in a McLaren and Logan Sargeant in a Williams. Meanwhile, Checo Pérez had his first experience with the RB20 but encountered brake problems, limiting his track time.

The second day also marked the beginning of Lewis Hamilton’s last preseason with Mercedes, as he completed 39 laps before the red flag. The afternoon session promised to resume with added time, once the issues at turn 11 were resolved.

Fans can catch all the action of Formula 1 and other top motorsport events live on Star+. With the preseason heating up, anticipation is building for an exhilarating season ahead.
