The next neroverde coach told by those who worked with him at Chievo. “His teams pay attention to the point, he takes great care of the defensive phase and demands respect for the roles”

Before arriving in Pordenone, in September 2014, she had worked with him. He was one of his technical collaborators at Chievo Verona, where the protagonist of this story had returned after his experience at Sampdoria.

Together they worked in Veneto in Serie A in the 2011-2012 championship, only to be exonerated at the beginning of the next tournament. The two then reunited in Livorno, again in the top flight, where they remained from January to April 2014.

Luciano Foschi then resumed his career as head coach, he restarted a few months later in Friuli, however he remained and is still in contact with Domenico Di Carlo, who will soon be announced as the new coach of Pordenone.

The 54-year-old from Albano Laziale knows his fellow countryman very well and claims that for the Friulians he is “the right man to restart from Serie C”.

The coach, together with his staff, will sign a two-year contract with Mauro Lovisa’s company, which will formalize him as the successor of Bruno Tedino (with whom the club separated a few days ago).

Foschi, what memories do you have of your collaboration with Di Carlo?

«Positive, especially those linked to the first season with Chievo Verona. We scored 49 points, ending the Serie A championship in tenth place. We played well, the team was lined up with a 4-3-1-2 in which Thereau held the role of attacking midfielder behind the two strikers Pellissier and Paloschi. After my experience in the Gialloblù and the one with Livorno I broke away, but in fact the relations have remained ».

He moved to Pordenone and returned to Serie C, a category in which he had always done well. What technician was and is Di Carlo?

«A coach who doesn’t have many frills. His formations pay attention to the point and he is very attentive to the defensive phase. He is a very good worker, one who likes to be on the pitch with the team to take care of the details. Can you convey the concepts of him to the group in a simple way. I think he is very effective at a communicative level and this is very important. It is necessary for the players to “arrive”. He also has temperament ».

Over the years it has been seen that Pordenone needs personality, given that the president Mauro Lovisa is very demanding.

«Mimmo demands respect for roles. On this he is very careful. He lets his collaborators express themselves but always within their duties and tasks. He knows what he can do and what others are capable of doing for him. Surely he will be good at making things clear immediately ».

What is certain is that if you decide to rely on Di Carlo you have to let him do it and rely on him.

«I agree, given the curriculum it is necessary to give him freedom of action. Certainly betting on him means that you want to win, that you want to reach the top ».

The coach has taken part in the Serie C championship twice and in both circumstances he won it, first in Mantua and then in Vicenza, even in the tournament marked by Covid.

«I think he is the right man to come back from Lega Pro and aim for Serie B. He also has a great desire to restart (last tournament he was sacked by Lanerossi after six games, ed). In general I think both sides are quite motivated to do well. Certainly Di Carlo, given his past, has a superior class mentality but at the same time he is also able to understand very well where he is ».
