Beijing and Hong Kong Advance in Men’s Youth Ice Hockey Competition at National Winter Games

The youth men’s ice hockey competition at the 14th National Winter Games continued on the 20th, with the Beijing and Hong Kong teams making significant advances in the tournament.

In a dominant display, the Beijing team defeated the Sichuan team with an impressive 12-1 scoreline, securing their spot in the semi-finals. The Hong Kong team also emerged victorious, defeating the Jilin team with a resounding 9-3 win, solidifying their position in the top two of Group B.

The “14th Winter” ice hockey men’s youth group consists of 8 teams. Group A sees the participation of the Beijing, Sichuan, Heilongjiang, and Shaanxi teams, while Group B includes the Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Tianjin, and Hong Kong teams. The top two teams in Group A will directly advance to the semi-finals, while the third and fourth teams in Group A and the top two teams in Group B will compete for semi-final tickets.

In their match against the Sichuan team, the Beijing team wasted no time in asserting their dominance, scoring a goal just 10 seconds into the game. Their 70 effective shots far exceeded the Sichuan team’s 24 shots, paving their way to an early semi-final qualification.

Meanwhile, the Heilongjiang team and the Shaanxi team engaged in a close contest. Despite Shaanxi’s efforts to equalize the score, the Heilongjiang team ultimately emerged victorious with a 3-2 lead.

In the match between the Hong Kong team and the Jilin team, the Hong Kong team displayed their superiority on the field, securing a convincing 9-3 win. This victory marked their second consecutive win and confirmed their top-two position in Group B.

In another match in Group B, Inner Mongolia and Tianjin ended in a 3-3 draw at the end of regular time. The game was ultimately decided by an overtime goal from Tianjin’s Lu Chang, securing their 4-3 victory.
