ORISTANO. Marco Ghiani was born in Oristano on 7 February 1999. He grew up with his family in the hamlet of Silì, as a child he looked at the Sartiglia and he liked the little horses of the Giara. Dad Andrea takes him to Antonio Casu’s Giara Club. At school, however, Marco does not shine. He interrupts his studies and starts working in his father’s pizzeria, continuing his activity in the Giara Club. He participates in the Sartigliedda and in 2014 he has the honor of covering the role of Componidoreddu and being the head of the race. He wins the gold star but, in an edition of the equestrian carousel characterized by bad weather, he falls off the horse d but immediately climbs back into the saddle.

Marco is passionate about horse racing and decides that this would be his way. He rolls up his sleeves, studies English to be able to attend the British Racing School. Here Luca Cumani, Frankie Dettori’s coach, takes him under his wing, with whom he begins to compete in racing, then passes with Stuart Williams and wins his first races. In recent months he has won the All Weather Championship, and now, after taking the most prestigious victory at Ascot, he is aiming to win the Championship for apprentice jockeys, which he currently sees in the lead. In private life he is engaged and lives with Londoner Brooke Brown, and a month ago he became the father of a boy, Louie. (p.c.)
