From the (momentary) -10 to the sprint at the top: Inter, the last one was a dream month

On November 21, Inter were -10 off the top for eight minutes. There was the very launched Napoli – arrived at San Siro with seven points of advantage – and Zielinski pierced Handanovic, leading the Neapolitans forward. At the Nerazzurri they had a bad time, before Calhanoglu, Perisic and Lautaro overturned the situation: at the end of the game the Italian champions found themselves at -4 from the first place occupied by Naples and Milan, defeated the night before on the field of Fiorentina. From that moment on, another story was written: in a month the others slowed down, Inter have never made a mistake.

First of all, Simone Inzaghi has armored his team: no goals conceded in the league from Mertens’ right-footed shot, Napoli’s vain attempt to return to the match at San Siro. In the next six games, Handanovic never had to turn around to pick up the ball in his own goal. And at the same time Inter have produced football without stopping: only against an excellent Turin the script was slightly different, while in the five previous matches the Nerazzurri have dominated far and wide, scoring the beauty of 16 goals. The calendar has undoubtedly done its part, with the challenges against Venice, Spezia, Cagliari and Salernitana to facilitate the path of the Italian champions.

In a month, from Napoli to Turin, the Nerazzurri have won 21 points, making a full booty. With consequent gain of +14 on the formation of Luciano Spalletti and of +11 on Milan. The San Siro match against the Neapolitans tasted like a last resort: it turned out to be the start of a dream month, beyond Simone Inzaghi’s best expectations. The road is still long, but should Inter be able to reach the second star, let’s remember this time frame: from 21/11 to 22/12. Month in which the return to the Champions League round of 16 is also inserted, thanks to the 2-0 against Shakhtar Donetsk on 24 November.
