Speaking of the project, what does the now former Varzi coach think of the new Oltrepo Fbc? «I think it is a fascinating, ambitious project, and that fully reflects the creed of President Catenacci. I wish him, the sports director Raso and the whole new club to take away the satisfactions they deserve ». Rewinding the tape, what 5 years were those on the Varzi bench? “Beautiful seasons. I thank all the players that I have had the pleasure and honor of coaching, the technical staff, the collaborators, and of course the Varzi club that has allowed me and everyone to achieve what we have done ». The best memories? «The victory of the Promotion Championship. Even if due to Covid we could not celebrate a season that has also been interrupted. Then the last mini-championship of Excellence, always conditioned by the pandemic. Those ten straight games, like finals. We were on the ramp to go to D, then it was a pity the defeat with Club Milano which broke a dream ». The Chiappano factor? “It was our fort, almost impregnable. In 5 seasons we have only lost 6 times. There have been illustrious victims, Sant’Angelo, Pavia, Vogherese, Sangiuliano, Varesina »Regrets? «Not having hit the playoffs this year. We have always been in it, after an excellent championship. We deserved that goal, beyond the outcome. And then never having managed to overcome the preliminary round of the Italian Cup. With this the good memories outweigh the few small regrets in a big way ». Returning to the trained players, who remains in the memory? «Well, I could name many. I mention, for all and among all, some: Mariani, Farina, Cantiello, Rebecchi, Catenacci, Rebuscini, Murriero, Gnaziri.
