The “Bisteccone” was also a bit of a fan of Belluno. After Lazio, of course. Giampiero Galeazzi had been in the city in 2002, at the summer presentation of the then Bellunopontalpi. A beautiful evening, in Piazza dei Martiri, which had also brought good results, because that team will win promotion to C2: “I and the lawyer Gracis had organized it”, remembers the manager of the time Antonio Brino, “I had asked for the availability to my friend Jacopo Volpi, also from the Rai sports newspaper, but he couldn’t and he had told me that he would do everything possible to get Giampiero Galeazzi to get me. Needless to say, I was even happier. It was certainly not a makeshift solution ».

Brino and his son Gabriele got off at Venice’s Marco Polo airport to pick up Galeazzi: «A person of unique sympathy: a joke every two minutes. It is a book of memories, always very precise and detailed. He was able to tell you about football or tennis matches by wire and by sign, as well as rowing competitions for which he was crazy ».

In the square, the painting began with the legendary commentary by the brothers Carmine and Giuseppe Abbagnale and the helmsman Di Capua, gold medals at the Olympics. After turning down the audio and turning on the lights, Galeazzi had been a star performer: «We had fun. He put his usual professionalism into it, alongside his undeniable sympathy. Without forgetting that he has brought us a lot of luck, given the outcome of the championship. A few months later, we moved up to C2 ».

The monumental Giampiero Galeazzi was not very well already at that time: “He was struggling to walk and it happened that I had to support him, if the walk was just a little longer”, concludes Brino, “we also saw each other later, during some holiday in Sardinia and he always remembered us. A great professional, who also had the gift of never taking himself too seriously ».
