SASSARI. Thirteen years of career with the suitcase always ready, up and down the boot without stopping anywhere for more than two seasons in a row. Then the landing in Sassari, the roots that enter the ground and begin to sprout. Stefano Gentile, a son born in Sassari and three and a half championships with Dinamo already behind him, will remain in biancoblù until 2025.
Yesterday, two days after the acquisition of the pass for the Pesaro Final Eight and in view of the trip to Brescia, the company led by Stefano Sardara has formalized the extension of the agreement with the Maddaloni guard: the expiry of the contract of number 22 del Banco di Sardegna was set for next season, but the two sides have decided to put the new deadline on paper.

Stefano Gentile, son of art, arrived in Sassari in the summer of 2018, after more than a decade spent in some of the squares of the great Italian basketball. He arrived in Serie A at a very young age with the JuveCaserta shirt, a club of which his father Nando wrote historical pages, he passed through the ranks of Andrea Costa Imola, Olimpia Milano, Ostuni and Aquila Trento. Then the first real responsibilities at a certain level, with two seasons in Casale Monferrato before returning to Caserta (30 appearances in 2012-’13 at 10 points on average). From that moment on, his presence in the top flight has been consolidated, with experiences in Cantù, Reggio Emilia and Bologna, on the Virtus side.
In 2018, as mentioned, the first ticket with destination Sassari, at the court of Enzo Esposito. After the initial difficulties, with the arrival of Gianmarco Pozzecco there was the definitive leap in quality, with the conquest of the Fiba Europe Cup and the Super Cup, and the unforgettable ride that led Dinamo to its second championship final, which was lost. only in game 7 against Venice.
