Georgian Ambassador to China: Beijing Winter Olympics will be a complete success, thanks China for all its efforts

Archie Carlandia:Hello everyone from Chinanet! My name is Archi Kalandia, the Georgian ambassador to China.

China.com: The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics are about to open. What wishes and expectations do you have for this Winter Olympics?

Archie Carlandia:I believe the Beijing Winter Olympics will be very successful. Beijing will also make history by becoming the first dual Olympic city to host the Winter and Summer Olympics. In 2008, I witnessed the Beijing Summer Olympics. I am very happy to be able to witness the Beijing Winter Olympics again after 14 years. In the past 14 years, Beijing has undergone earth-shaking changes and achieved rapid development. I am very confident that this Winter Olympics will be safe, smooth and a complete success. I wish the Georgian athletes good results and all the participating athletes good results. In particular, this Winter Olympics will be held in the context of epidemic prevention and control, which is a big challenge for the Chinese government and the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee. But I am very sure that all parties will overcome difficulties and the Winter Olympics will be a complete success. I wish the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympics and all the participating parties to be successful and achieve good results. Thank you for all your efforts.

Archie Carlandia:Georgia and China have always been mutually trusted partners and firm friends. It is gratifying that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and China. Our two countries continue to make progress in bilateral and multilateral cooperation. I am very happy to see more and more Georgian companies entering the Chinese market. At the same time, we are also actively participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. I believe that in many areas including trade and economic cooperation, our two countries will definitely strengthen and deepen cooperation in the future. This year we also plan to hold a series of events, especially cultural events and some receptions, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Georgia is the home of red wine. I am happy to learn that Georgian red wine is becoming more and more popular in the Chinese market. For Georgians, red wine is an important part of our culture and identity, and from this perspective, I am also very happy that my Chinese friends have also become part of Georgian culture. In addition, the exchanges and cooperation between our two countries in culture and education are also deepening. In the future, we will expand more cooperation agendas in these areas. We will also work with our Chinese colleagues to create tangible results. So, this year we will have more opportunities to implement some of our projects and plans.
