Giro d’Italia, all ready for the stage in Friuli Venezia Giulia: the route and restrictions for the Marano-Castelmonte

The commissioner for infrastructures coordinated FvgStrade and Motostaffetta Friulian interventions with the Prefecture and the Police

CIVIDAL. The road system management plan for the arrival of the Giro d’Italia in Friuli Venezia Giulia is ready and operational. On Friday 27 May, on the occasion of the nineteenth stage from Marano Lagunare to the Sanctuary of Castelmonte, the regional roads will be under pressure due to the many temporary interruptions to the road network affected by the important sporting event. The athletes will in fact be the protagonists of a long 178-kilometer route between regional, former provincial and municipal roads. For this reason, a supervision and safety protocol was activated by FVG Strade and by Motostaffetta Friulana.

The commissioner for Infrastructures and Territory explained that the monitoring plan arises from the awareness of all the actors involved about the stress to which the road network relating to the localities affected by the passage of the “Giro d’Italia” will be subjected, in the preparatory stages for stages, during their development and in the demobilization phase.

The road arteries directly affected by the stage will be closed to vehicular traffic: this can cause overloads along the neighboring roads with possible congestion and criticalities and it is therefore essential to offer users a monitoring and safety service as well as coordinated information, always available via the app , regarding the practicability of road arteries and all events that could modify normal traffic on the roads under their respective jurisdiction.

There are several critical points that will be under observation, not only by the regional administration but also by the local and road police. Thirty-two employees under the direct responsibility of the Region will be deployed along the route, fifteen of which thanks to a specific agreement signed with the Friulian Motostaffetta, which will be presented tomorrow at the Castelmonte Sanctuary, the final destination of the stage.

Major intersections will be affected by the passage of runners and traffic problems may occur.

As highlighted by the councilor, the goal is to raise the levels of regularity and safety of traffic. This initiative has, in fact, a double value because on the one hand it sees the Region involved for the best possible outcome of the cycling event that will cross the regional territory, on the other it is in continuity with the strategies envisaged to connect the various bodies involved. In fact, FVG Strade participated in the meetings with the Prefecture and the Police Headquarters and plays the role of “operational arm” of the Region on the occasion of the important event.

In addition, considerable efforts were also made in terms of digital information, thanks to a protocol developed together with the Veneto Region. From this year, in fact, it will be possible to be informed about the traffic situation via the web by connecting to infomobility.moovamobilityconnect.it.

The information will be guaranteed in real time and will also cover particularly adverse weather conditions, availability and location of parking spaces, always with an eye to the development of the stage, the travel times of the race and the movement of the pink caravan.
