Goggia: ‘I didn’t ski very well, but I won with an immense heart’

“Maybe I didn’t ski very well but I put an immense heart into it”: Sofia Goggia celebrates without exaggerating her fourth seasonal triumph which earned her first place in the World Cup standings: “We are on December 18th and I am not looking at these things. I am very happy because it is my seventh consecutive victory and it all started a year here, right on this track ”.

La Goggia admitted that she started with a “tension on her that I masked everyone”. The analysis of the race is clear: “I am happy to have contained the gap also in the upper part of the track characterized by 40 seconds of plan. When I ski below 100 kilometers per hour, I struggle a little: I won for my courage. I tried to push through the corners and keep the deliveries that my coaches had given me at the start.

Now we must already look forward to tomorrow’s super-G, with the certainties accumulated in this extraordinary start to the season: “I think I am very well calibrated, concentrated and we have worked very well on the set up this summer. Excellent skis, boots too, coaches who give me excellent indications and physically I feel more solid and performing. My motivation is that the chronometer always starts from scratch, because those behind always push to beat you and you always have to give something more ”.
