PAVIA

Aics Pavia celebrated half a century of activity at Canottieri Ticino. “We were born the year after the creation of the national team – explains Cinzia Painelli, provincial president for 14 years, 48 Aics member – Enzo Belloni founded the first swimming club in Pavia and then the provincial Aics”. Painelli wanted to reward the three swimmers of a story that began with Paola Tentoni at the World Championships and continued with Alessandro Calvi, who participated in two editions of the Games, Federico Burdisso, two bronzes at Tokyo 2020, and Monica Boggioni, three bronzes at the Paralympics last summer . «Alessandro Calvi is following some swimmers at the absolute championships that have just begun – Painelli specifies – Burdisso is in America. With us there is Monica Boggioni, who has just won two other Paralympic tricolor titles ».

Yesterday’s event was attended by the national president of Aics, Bruno Molea, the mayor Fabrizio Fracassi and the president of the city council, Nicola Niutta. «Monica is an example – Fracassi underlined – brings her experience to schools and demonstrates the value of sport with facts. Pavia lacks a 50-meter indoor swimming pool, it is expensive both to build and to maintain, but my hope is that it can be built in the future in a disused area of the city ». Painelli then recalled that after half a century the national Aics has reached 2 thousand members and 30 affiliated clubs, including various disciplines. In the presence of the historical leaders Riccardo Mattioli and Adriano Scinaldi, special prizes went to the provincial delegate of Coni, Luciano Cremonesi, to the regional president of Aics Massimo Boffelli, to the “long-term” secretary of Aics Nuoto, Maurilio Malinverni, present with his son Stefano (formerly Burdisso’s coach) and Martina Mainardi, a 15-year-old student of the Volta di Pavia who finished second in the national competition for the creation of the national Aics calendar. –
