TOKYO. Katia Aere won the bronze medal in the handbike race in the H5 category at the Tokyo Paralympics.
The blue, 50 years old from Spilimbergo, reached the finish line inside the Fuji circuit with a delay of 4’32 «compared to the American Oksana Masters who won by covering 66 kilometers in 2 hours 23’39.
Silver to the Chinese Bianbian Sun at 3’11 ”from the winner. For Aere, bronze medal this year in Portugal, this is the first Paralympic medal.
For Masters, 32-year-old originally from Ukraine and fourth five years ago in Rio de Janeiro, today’s gold is the second gold in this edition of the Paralympic Games after the one in the Time trial of the H4-5 category.
That of Aere, which dedicated the bronze “to the family, to Spilimbergo, to Italy and to Alex (Zanardi, ed)”, is the sixth medal for Italy in road cycling at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
