The protagonist of Saturday’s censurable gesture on the Kaiser calls Patron Cainero to apologize. He appreciates but warns: “It doesn’t end here”
CANAZEI. Eight fifteen on Tuesday morning, the phone rings at Studio Cainero. “Hello, I’m the one you’re looking for, I’m the fan who risked dropping that cyclist on the Zoncolan on Saturday”.
A few words at the beginning, Cainero jumped and continued to listen to the justifications of the excited fan, whose work, thanks to the TV images, bounced around the world in one of the most followed fractions of the Giro d’Italia. The organizer of the Friulian stages cannot and does not want to add much.
He confines himself to confirming the call and adding: «The fan is not from the region and, as we have verified by cross-checks with PromoturismoFvg, he had regularly taken the step to access the last three kilometers of the route. He said he was more than sorry for having almost knocked the leader of the stage Fortunato to success 1.4 km from the finish, until he came to tears during the short phone call ».
The patron immediately informed the Police Headquarters. It will thus be up to the police to continue with the investigations and take any measures against the unwelcome protagonist of the final stage. Cainero, on the other hand, does not retreat an inch and wants to ask for damage to the Kaiser ultras, let’s call it that not going further.
This time, in short, it did not happen as in the 2014 Giro when another agitated accompanied for a few meters the race of the cyclist Manuel Bongiorno launched towards victory, hitting him and forcing him to put his foot on the ground, but he was never identified despite long searches.
