Inzaghi can breathe a sigh of relief, Marcus Thuram’s injury will not require long recovery times

The diagnosis of Marcus Thuram has been confirmed, as he injured himself in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Atletico Madrid, at San Siro, just before half-time. The French striker, as communicated by Inter, underwent tests at Humanitas in Rozzano: he suffered an elongation of the adductor longus in his right thigh and “his condition will be re-evaluated in the next few days”.

When Thuram returns

Barring unforeseen circumstances, Thuram will be available for the return match at home to the Colchoneros, scheduled for March 13th. The recovery table has already been drawn up. Simone Inzaghi will not have him available against Lecce (Sunday 25 February) and against Atalanta (Wednesday 28 February, recovery of the 21st matchday of the championship). He could already be on the bench with Genoa, again at San Siro, on March 4th. But the final test will be in the match against Thiago Motta’s Bologna, scheduled for the weekend of 9-10 March. So as to be able to take the field, precisely, against Diego Pablo Simeone’s team to defend the 1-0 won at the Meazza and gain a pass for the quarter-finals. While waiting for Thuram’s return, Inzaghi will rely on Arnautovic (he scored the winning goal against Atletico) and Sanchez.
