“I’m interested in what you wear under your clothes”: the Horner case becomes a mystery. An anonymous email sends the alleged chats to 200 F1 people

Now the case involving Chris Horner does not only concern accusations of “inappropriate behavior” a sexual backgroundbut it becomes a mystery which is intertwined with the power intrigues within the Formula 1. The first weekend of the season in Bahrain seemed to have begun with a definitive decision: Red Bull cleared its team principal of the accusations, however, at the end of an internal investigation secret, confirming him at the helm of the team. A surprise decision, when many now took the dismissal for certain. Not even 24 hours later, here’s the new one plot twist: while the second free practice session was underway, a Google Drive supposedly containing the evidence presented against Horner was sent via mail almost 200 people in the paddock of F1.

The email contains screenshots of some alleged chats attributed to Horner and the employee who accused him. “What do you want me to wear on the plane tomorrow?”, the employee writes. And he replies: “I don’t care. It’s more interesting what you wear under your clothes…”. It is one of the most striking passages, reported by several newspapers included the Gazzetta dello Sport. Then we talk about other spicy conversations, some photos sent by Horner and at a certain point there would be a message from the employee asking for a change in behavior. At the front of which, according to these chats, is the team principal, married to the former Spice Girls Geri Halliwellhe would apologize.

Among the recipients of the email are also Liberty Media, the president of F1 Stefano Domenicali and that of the FIA Mohammed Ben Sulayem. As well as the other nine team principals. And some didn’t wait any longer to comment on the story. The boss of McLaren Zak Brown and the Mercedes team manager Toto Wolff they invited the Formula 1 authorities to ask greater transparency to Red Bull regarding the recent investigation into Horner. “I think they need to make sure that things have been completely transparent. I don’t know what these are conversations. They need to be thorough, completely transparent and come to the same conclusion as Red Bull,” Brown said. Toto Wolff is also on the same wavelength: “Being a global sport, on such critical topics, I believe there is a need for greater transparency, and I wonder what the position of this sport is. We are competitors, we are a team and we can have our own personal opinions oppure no”.

“I won’t comment speculations anonymousbut then again, I always have denied the allegations,” Horner said in a statement read to reporters by a spokesman of the team on behalf of Horner. It should be noted that this was a statement from Horner only and not on behalf of Red Bell. “I respected integrity of the independent investigation and cooperated fully every step of the way,” Horner continued. “It was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by a specialized lawyer independent and concluded by rejecting the complaint presented. I’m staying completely concentrated about the start of the season,” Horner explained. However, his story has officially become a giallowaiting for the next twist.
