The Dolada Seribell

Salvador and his teammates win away to Cussignacco. The return semifinal is on Saturday 7 May in Cavarzano

CUSSIGNACCO

The first round of the A2 bowls playoff semifinals goes to Dolada. The Pontalpini conquer the difficult field of Cussignacco for 19-8 and take a decisive step forward towards the final in the East area, which this year offers direct access to the A1 series up for grabs.

In the first round of traditional games, the two teams split the stakes. Dolada Seribell immediately wins the combined (30-1 for Frare) and the first individual (11-7 for Fabio Carlin) while Cussignacco has the better of the trio (11-0 against Basano, De Vecchi and Olivato) and in the first couple (11-1 at the expense of Mauro Carlin and Tiso).

To make the difference are, once again, the evidence of the central part of the match. The Pontalpini put the race downhill by winning the relay (46-44 for Basano and Fabio Carlin) and take off with the first precision shot (22-13 for Frare), the first progressive shot (23-2 for Basano) and the second progressive (38-29 for Fabio Carlin). Cussignacco manages to win with the minimum difference only in the second precision shot (10-9).

We arrive at the last lap of traditional tests with Dolada ahead 13-6 and, therefore, in total control of the result. But the Pontalpine team is not satisfied and decides to further increase the advantage margin, also winning the second individual (11-8 for Mauro Carlin), the third individual (9-3 for Frare) and the third couple (9-4 for Fabio Carlin and Tiso). The opposing team only gets the second pair (11-0 over Basano and Andrea Carlin).

«This year everything is possible. There will be no Final four between the East and West areas », Captain Renato Salvador recalls,« and whoever wins the final in the East area is promoted to A1. During the regular season we had ups and downs, but in the second round we found the right place, with 4 victories in a row ».

Four victories that become five after yesterday afternoon’s seal on the fields of a formidable opponent, Cussignacco, who had closed the regular season in second place in group D (the group in which the other Serie A2 team from Belluno competed, the Pedavena).

The return match between Dolada and Cussignacco will be played in just under two weeks, on Saturday 7 May at the Palabocce in Cavarzano. The boys of coach Andrea Reolon start from a position of absolute favor and, on the friendly lanes, they can take the pass for the final, where they will find the winner of the double challenge between Quadrifoglio and Villaraspa.
