PAVIA

In Rivanazzano everything is ready for the start of the Six Days of Enduro which will start tomorrow morning.

The international organizational machine assisted by local promoters – the Moto Club Pavia and the Motoclub Vittorio Alfieri of Asti – is ready and yesterday afternoon gave an essay on the complex management of an edition with Covid restrictions.

The Visconteo di Pavia castle hosted the parade of all 650 pilots, the 1,200 members of the various teams, as well as hundreds of companions, family members and friends in tow.

All twenty nations made the catwalk in alphabetical order, except Belgium, the United States and Italy who closed the show as the last winners (respectively of the fair play and main trophies) and host nation.

Austria begins to take the stage with its eighteen competitors, but with a very large delegation – more than fifty people – and colorful, with several young people who in typical costume animate the party.

The four drivers from Brazil pass by, authorized to remove the mask for photos and national anthem. Then it’s up to Chile, a large, very noisy delegation that sympathetically abuses the 30 seconds available to greet the other teams, singing the entire national anthem.

There are representations with many pilots – the 37 from the Czech Republic, the 22 Swedes – and few representations, such as the 7 Estonians, the four Israelis, the 7 Slovenes, the 4 South Africans and the only Japanese.

In the French group there is also one of the infrequent female formations. A nice group that sings – with pride – the whole Marseillaise. Evidently the transalpine guests do not know that their ancestors have demolished two towers and the whole northern part of the castle that houses them. But almost six centuries have passed and Europe today is united.

As many as 41 Spanish male and female drivers, with a delegation invading the entire scene made available to the organizers.

The real show is given by the 183 Italian drivers, who are so many that they can hardly be there on the big stage. The Italian numbers are completed by the 58 clubs that will race from tomorrow in search of glory. Authorities and the little public admitted stand up to sing the hymn of Mameli.

The institutional greeting was brought by the mayor Fracassi and the regional councilor Mura. Fracassi does not hide the attacks that took place at the demonstration. But, he says, raising his head from the notebook: “For me this is a dream.” It is a short speech of pride, that of the mayor of Pavia. Which then goes beyond the ceremonial and appeals to the Italian athletes: «I wish you sincere good luck. But give us this satisfaction in this wonderful year for the national teams. Work as a team and bring a great result. Commit yourself, with commitment you win. So, come on guys and come on Italy ». –
