On April 29, Beijing time, at the end of last year, Tiger Woods released a short two-second swing that made the golf world go crazy for a while.
A video of Phil Mickelson’s similar exercise was posted on social media on Wednesday. While it won’t be as exciting as Tiger’s swing, it does spark speculation among fans.
The Fire Pit Collective posted on its social media a video of Mickelson practicing his driver at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club in California. And this video is Mickelson’s first public batting video since February 22 when he made inappropriate remarks in support of the Saudi Super League.
Mickelson said in a previous statement: “Over the past 10 years, I have felt the pressure is slowly and deeply affecting me, I know I am not doing my best, and I desperately need some time to prioritize. Think about who I love the most and try to be who I want to be.”
Little has been seen or heard from Mickelson over the past two months, but his agent Steve Roy said earlier this week that Mickelson had registered for the PGA Championship and U.S. Open, and has submitted an application for a waiver for the first LIV Golf Invitational.
“Phil doesn’t have a specific travel schedule right now,” Steve said. “It’s by no means final, but keeping all options open.”
Mickelson is the defending champion of the PGA Championship, which runs May 19-22 at South Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The first LIV Golf Invitational is scheduled for June 9-11 in London.
Mickelson missed the Masters for the first time since 1994 and has not played since the Saudi International on the Asian Tour in early February. Shortly after the Saudi international, Mickelson was quoted by the Fire Pit Collective, sparking a dispute between the PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed Super League.
