Basketball, Baioni and Gerosa speak, coach Cavina’s assistants: “There are many young people to work on”

SASSARI. “We are ready to collect the input from the head coach and transform them into working methods and ideas for individuals and the group.” Giacomo Baioni and Gerry Gerosa are the two assistants available to coach Demis Cavina. With Dinamo starting the preparation work on Monday and gradually adding foreign elements, the staff is in turn taking its first steps in planning the training methodologies.

For Baioni, born in Pesaro in 1976, it is a return to Sassari after three years and a championship won with Reyer. «I am very happy, it is nice to be back in a fantastic place that I had left for personal reasons. The team is very intriguing and so is the new system of work. It is a very versatile, physical team, with some excellences at the level of individual talent. There is a bit of everything inside and it was built with great wisdom by Pasquini, about whom I never stop spending positive words. I found an extremely organized society, people full of great enthusiasm ».

The many young people present on the roster will be the “terrain” of the assistants. «The only uneven thing about the team concerns the differences in the identity cards. There are experienced but still fresh and young elements on which it will be very interesting to work. The games are decided with the system and with the bets, but the bets are made by the individuals with their qualities and we technicians must give them enormous support in consolidating what they already have and exploring the possibilities for growth ». And coach Cavina? What did you start asking your assistants? «We will start very soon with the work on the transition – says Baioni -, Demis wants to see a team running and going into the open field. Then there will be a part of targeting the qualities of the individuals in the game system and then, when the legs are more ready, we will intervene on the defensive phase ».

«He – says Gerosa, canturino born in 1985, in Sassari for 6 years – has very clear ideas about what he wants during the week, in the single training session, or in preparation for the match or during the match itself. Each coach has their own priorities, so we will need to put together the greatest focus on field work. Personally being able to continue to be part of this project makes me happy and honors me, I thank Sardara and Pasquini for giving me once again confidence. I will put in the usual effort and also, like every year, a little more, because I am also trying to improve. I already knew Baioni, Demis a little less, but in general it will be a pleasure to have new inputs and new information to acquire and rework for my luggage. My role is to always be available and to support the head coach and the staff ».
